It's gonna be St. Andrews, but unlike previously, it doesn't even appear at the top of the Roadmap Features section. It used to be the no. 1 in that section back in October. Because the section above that talks about a release time of 30-60 days, I for one no longer expect to see a new stroke-play course on this site in 2009.

    lkennedy:

AlaCowboy correctly got the drift of my earlier post, to the extent of referring to the exact hole I have most trouble with (Kiawah #2).  If you hit the rough to the left, you have to lay up to avoid the ball-gobbler in the middle.  Pretty much a blind shot because you can't zoom to where you're hitting the ball to get distance.

Here's what I do on Kiawah #2 when I need to lay up. I position the triangle in the fairway graphic on the bottom right, then play a club that I know will come up about 20 yards short. I must be very good, because I have to hit that shot at least once a week.  :)

Sorry to beat a dead horse, but since reaching the master rank (damn it!) I really need a driving range to learn how to hit my new R9 master driver. I'd GLADLY pay for a bucket of balls...I'll pay for range time....I'd offer my first born male child, but I doubt many here could afford him (he's 25yo and has excellent taste, like his dad). PUH-PUH-PUH-PLEASE give us a driving range! In lieu of a driving range, can you offer one of the master-only drivers with a slower meter speed, like the Ping Rapture...?

So stop beating the horse then. Let's get real here folks.  All this driving range talk, practice putting greens, you people amaze me. It's a damn computer game. This is like a reality TV show gone really bad.  Gonna lock yourselves up in darkened rooms all over the world hitting virtual golf balls. That's not gonna help your virtual game 1 little bit, Practice, practice, and more practice is the only way.  You would be better off picking your noses and doing finger kegals to tighten up that trigger finger. This game is straight up point and click, nothing more. Sure go out and hit a couple thousand  virtual golf balls a day causing your finger to become arthritic and feeble. That's really gonna help.   NOT....You will never ding again  my friend. And not only that you want a special built driver with a slower meter, aww is the game too hard for you.  Well x-mas is coming soon and if you really are a good boy, maybe mommy  will buy you a Hello Kitty version of this game that's more your speed. Those cute pink characters are so adorable, wish I still had mine to play with.  Hopefully your 25 year old is not a wuss like his dad..................................................................................................To all my fellow wgt members sorry for the rant, just really tired of all this nonsense . The forums suck now and will remain this way.     !WGT RULES!          May we all  Mirc in piece.

You want a driving range to learn to hit the R9 with the faster meter? .. I have your answer. It's quicker than practice rounds. Play any of the Closest to the Hole Tournaments.... score there doesn't mean a thing. Every shot, you hit driver ... from the bunker, rough, wherever it's set up. Doesn't matter that you can't hit a driver off the deck or out of the bunker ... you don't care where you're hitting it. You want to get the timing down on the meter. Use the free balls, meter doesn't get any quicker than with those... and you can lose them all day long.

But guess what? .. You'll still miss the meter a LOT even after all that practice ... especially if the rest of your clubs don't have the same meter speed. I play the R9 driver & 3w , Rapture irons/hybrid, TM Z Satin 60 d wedge, Tour Starter 60d wedge, and a Redwood putter. I deal with the meter running at 3 or 4 different speeds. You'll get it figured out, there's just a learning curve.

P.S.    Sal's right. No point wishing for a driving range or putting green. I don't think either will ever happen, and i truly doubt they would be any help whatsoever if we had them.

That's a pretty good idea, jeffdos...but it's nice to see a how a club performs under different conditions. I play real golf 3-4 times a week, and I'm at the driving range 1-2 times a week. This game is so realistic, how can anyone NOT think a driving range would help? And besides, there are plenty of people here like me that would spend $'s using it, helping WGT bring more courses, etc online. I've sunk about 100 bucks in this game so far...I don't mind spending a bit more.

Honestly Joel, at the pace WGT moves a driving range is a waste of time and resources that could be put to things that everybody wants, like new stroke play courses.

Also as these guys have mentioned, you can simulate a driving range in many places of this game.  You can use the CTTH method or just blast away in regular stroke play until you max out.  It may not be what you had in mind, but it does serve the purpose for now.  Once the game is further along, then the niceties can be brought in.  Driving ranges, club testing and yes, even bird sounds (shout-out to MrBoo) can all be added later.

Thank you for keeping my thread on topic.

Also, let's ease up on the block quoting ok?

Faterson......thank you SO much for that info!  I had no idea you could do all that with the keyboard.  And your right.......it "isn't zooming".  But is a way, to set a lay-up mark prior to a hazzard ...or so I've been able to do.  I'm still trying to figure all this out.....just still a hack with Pro status (go figure) :(  there's some holes on these courses, that just don' seem to jive :(....hence, I'm in a rut trying to ge anywhere close to a par round :(  Ah well......its entertaining :)
