Generally, the first item to look at will be the trajectory - the higher the better. If meter is a subject, the meter speed and the forgiveness are to be looked at.
In the Pro and Tour Pro tiers I'd think of buying a good 3WD rather than the longest driver. It saves a lot of bucks (e.g. the lvl 47 Rapture 3WD for 375 cr) and it may fit better to the desirable driving lengths, giving a good opportunity for a long 2nd shot.
