I do not think I would have done the math that way, but good that you give an example of how much it actually cost to play with those balls. It is a lot more than most people are willing to pay on a (rather buggy) beta version of a game.
"like you said the same thing in $1 dollar + $1000 = same amount over all ?? lol"
I do not understand what you are saying there, care to explain?
I said that 2x$1 = 1x$2, if that is what you are pointing at.
The idea with monthly, quarterly, bi-annual or annual fees is that most people feel more comfortable knowing how much it will cost. There is plenty of examples in the real world that proves it is a sound way of doing business. Flatrate Internet connections was the reason Internet "boomed" some 15 years ago although it, for most people, meant they actually payed more for the net than before. But they also used it more and they did not have that nervous feeling the ticking counter gave them.
Scan through these forums and you see there is an enormous amount of posts from people pissed off after losing their expensive balls for various reasons. Customers that are pissed off are not good for business.
If you pay a monthly, say $7, for Nike balls, you pay that regardless if you play or not, but a pissed off customer that quit after deciding it is too expensive to continue to improve and to compete will no longer be a source of income. When your friends Nike stops dead on the green after 200 yards and hard tailwind while your ball, landing at exactly the same place, rolls over into the rough, then the fun stops. You will make a decision to either put more money into it or to care less. If you decide to care less, you will play less and many of those cases will cease to turn up and are no longer a source of income.
Many phone companies are offering flat rates for phones, mobile or stationary, simply because it does not cost them any more but the customers like it, they like the fact that they do not need to say "I must hang up now, this becomes expensive". Some save a lot of money that way, other would probably save money for a minute plan but they still like the option of being able to talk as much as the want.
How much will the next ball cost? The one that can make your tailwind drives to spin backwards and/or extend the drive with 20 yards? Before the Callaways, WGT was cheaper for us but people still complained that the good balls was expensive. Now we have Nike and the Callaway is a cheapo version that will give you a handicap in the competition and the WGT balls... well, they are pretty useless.
In relative terms though, not much has changed - everybody want the right equipment to compete. But the price for the right equipment has almost tripled.
My theory is that bringing down the cost for playing would result in more paying customers and that, in turn, would be of great value for WGT as a company.
esssy:
nice idea but does this mean you are
willing to pay around $35 to $45 dollars a month to sponsor a company
like callaway and nike,, just asking add up what you would spend for the
month on the good balls and see if it adds up around the same amount.
think about it 350credits for good callaways and looking for $35.00 a month for a monthly supply.
nikes 450 credits for good nikes and looking for $45.00 DOLLARS A MONTH FOR A MONTHLY SUPPLY.
will this similar kind of sponsorship would work for alot of members maybe not
like you said the same thing in $1 dollar + $1000 = same amount over all ?? lol
but if wgt was going to bring out an avatar with callaway and nike on
the clothing and with those avatars you should get good deals in the
pro shop for those named items even if the avatar 1000 credits there
should 3 deals for the price of 2.
thank you
