I have bought the PING Rapture V2 Irons Set (L +48) and need to buy wedges BUT am lost. Can anyone help? I need to cover the huge range gap between my PW (110y) and SW (70 yards). And I'd love to land my shots and stop them dead (or spin them back)...

    Thanks for your suggestions!!!!!!!!!

    Hi there,

Looking at your clubs, there are a few changes I would make...

First, drop your hybrid, no point having it when your 3i hits further, same goes for your 3W, there is only a 10yrd difference between it and you 3i. I would rather invest in a new 3W, maybe try the rapture which goes 230yrds or if you want to spend 150 credits more get the G20 which goes 235.(Maybe go for this 1 as you'll be able to use it for a while to come.)

As for the wedges, I would say get the satins, 54, 60 and 64 deg. (their distances are 98, 77 and 50yrds) The 50yrd wedge you'll keep forever once you're used to it, as many current players have done and as time goes on and you upgrade irons you can play around with the better wedges. The nice thing with these wedges is that the punch shots will also fill the gaps in between them. So you will pretty much be covered for any distance you may be left with.

    Hope this helps, Good Luck.

I've found the Ping wedges to be a very good bargain.

A lot will depend on the ball you choose to use, but the wedges have been very consistent for me. I use a 60, 75, and 90 yard wedge combo that, when using punch shots and different amounts of spin, give me all the options I need between 46 and 96 yards.

Regardless of your choice of wedges, learning how and when to play all the shots available to you will be the best thing you can do.

I have the same clubs and use the Cleveland 56, 60, 64 deg.

I also have the L47 Rapture 3W and like it a lot, feel no need to upgrade it at this time.
