4 rounds of 18, 72 holes is the most popular format on the PGA Tour, but we have no 72 hole tournaments here at WGT. In fact, we have very few multiround tournaments of any sort.
I'd love to see bi-weekly and monthly 72 hole tourneys.
The monthly 72 hole would be 1 single play 18 hole round each week on the same course, but under varying conditions and pin placements. And either have tiered prize pools, or put everyone on the back tees. The entry fee would be 100 CR, and the payouts could be based on the number of entries, going from paying the top 10 to the top 25 to the top 50, etc, as the entries increase. And, of course, WGT could take their cut.
The bi-weekly 72 would be 1 single play 18 hole round each 1/2 week (Mon-Thur and Fri-Sun as multis presently do) over 2 weeks. The entry fee would be 50 CR, and payout structure like the monthly.
I also think it would be fun to have a bi-weekly 54 hole tourney, but played by 6 single play 9 hole rounds on different courses. If possible, the 1st 3 rounds of 9 would be open for play at the same time the 1st week, and 3 rounds the 2nd week. If not, maybe 2 rounds a week over 3 weeks. Have tiered prize pools, or put everyone on Legend tees, or maybe even sometimes put everyone on TM tees. Make the entry fee 25 CR, and either use a progressive payout, or maybe just pay the top 10 or 25 no matter how many entries there are.
WGT could also offer free 72 hole tourneys, but since they would be paying out, instead of taking their cut, I won't presume to suggest such. (Wups, maybe I just did, ha, ha.) But WGT could also offer higher CR entry 72 hole tourneys, if these low CR ones prove popular.
