I was looking at drivers with slower meters than the one I have right now.  I have narrowed it down the Lvl 29 R11 and the Lvl 58 G20.  I would like lots of constructive advice. I also realize I have asked very similar questions to this one's effect but still.

P.S. I know most people will say the G20 because of distance but the R11 has more forgiveness which I need ; ).  Also, you shouldn't consider the fact I have a G20 3 wood.

Edit: I am getting very close to the master tier so please leave comments soon.

Just my two cents, but if you want slower meter speeds upgrade your ball to a GI3-S or better. Yeah I know , it sucks to lose 'em an' wear 'em out but, if it's all about improving your game, it's a decision you'll have to make sooner or later. Good hittin'.

    Hi

I would go with g20, no doubt. Yes, forgiveness is important factor, but paired up with nike or callaway balls, you are talking about 20-25 yard difference, which is often 2 club difference.

    No doubt in my mind:)

I love the G20. I think forgiveness is less of a factor for the drivers than it is for the irons or the putters. This coming from someone who uses the high forgiveness Rapture irons.

Question 1: How consistently are you able to hit the ding with your current driver?

If you're hitting the ding more often than not, the G20 is going to be better because it is more precise.  Think of precision as the size of a circle around where you're aiming.  The more dots of precision, the smaller that circle will be - thus, your shot will be closer to where you've aimed.  The slower meter will help with hitting the ding.  Add in something like the Callaway balls and your chance at getting the ding is even higher.

Forgiveness is how close to that circle of precision the ball will be on a mishit.  Higher forgiveness means you will get closer to your aiming point with a mishit, BUT - the circle that the ball will land in is bigger, so even on a ding, there's a wider area the ball may land.

The higher loft on the G20 is also important - the wind will have more affect on the flight of the ball.  The trade off is stopping power with the higher ball flight (not as important with a driver, but can help when considering the irons).

I know you're aware that suggestions are based on distance and this is for good reason - the tees move back when you reach Master and even though it's "only" 18 yards, it is a HUGE difference between hitting a 3i into a green vs. being able to hit a 5i.  I tried to carry the K15s into Master and struggled because it was so hard to get close with long irons.

I have the G20 (I bought the entire set when I got to that level) and I have no regrets at all.  They take some time to get used to because of the difference in loft, but once you figure them out, they're incredible clubs.

    Hope this helps!

I had the entire L32 R11 set, which included the L29 R11 driver you listed.

I switched to the entire G20 set at L59, and that's what I would recommend, as the irons are worth it as well. Err, since you already have the 3wd, then buy the G20 driver and irons.

The extra distance between the R11 and the G20 is more like 30 yards than 18. From the master tees you will be able to drive a lot of par 4's, and hit some par 5's in two as well.

And the G20 driver is very easy to hit, you will hardly every miss the fairway with it.

With the G20 irons you can stop the ball much better, especially if you switch to balls with more backspin than the starters.

Well, I guess the consensus (100%) is I should get the G20's. I would like to thank you all for posting advice to an inexperienced and lucky (see Kiawah scores vs other scores) Tour Pro who is nearing the Master tier.  Now, all I need is a little luck with the surveys.

    Thanks to all, Bpierce

As drmoose suggested try and change balls if possible , the WGT  GI2-S  or  GI2-D , theese are quite cheap at 64 credits a pack  , they should help out dramaticly in your performance !    ......   both balls will slow your meter as well  !  .....  good luck  !

well, considering I lost 2 balls on the same hole and another one besides in an 18 - hole round, I don't really like buying golf balls.
