You need to have forward and backspin on your wedges, it part of the game to be able to chip off of the green.

This has already been discussed at great length on these forums. You can use the wedge on the green but to use the spin adjustment is unrealistic.

Some people have already mastered the shot without using the spin dot. My suggestion would be to practice, practice, practice .

I would add that if you believe you can't use spin to control a chip on the green then you haven't tried this in real life.  It is a shot that can be struck just as any other with any club, in exactly the same fashion.  It is legal, viable shot and should be a part of this game also.

Greens Keepers and Golf Course superintendents may hate you but hey, obviously someone is trailing us around and replacing our divots because we don't have to!

As a followup, here's what was posted by WGTwildcat in the Game Changes thread:

"Chipping on Greens - Players are able to take unfair advantage of chipping on greens to make an unrealistic amount of putts. On 5/30/12 we removed the option of controlling ball spin when chipping on greens, and on 6/28/12 we increased the variability of chipping on greens. This better matches how chipping on greens works in the real world, so players can still chip on greens but are unlikely to sink a lot of those chips."
