I don't know how to do either of these--I'm basically guessing randomly and hoping the ball either doesn't get duffed (when in the rough) or roll 30 ft past the hole, stop 20 ft short, or miss left or right by an easy 2 yards (while putting).

The rough is an absolute aim-and-hope situation, where only the horizontal-breaking greens really give me trouble.  I need any tips or help someone can offer.

If you're putting from the rough your success rate is going to be low. ;-) Once on the greens it takes some time and practice to him 'em close. Look at the tutorial on Putting and how to read the colors of the grid. Blue up hill, Red down hill. The side break is where time and practice pay off the most.
