Is it possible to improve the wind, at the moment it seems to come from random directions for each hole?

For example, the other day I was completing a round on the Old Course, St Andrews, coming up the 16th fairway, the wind was coming from the right. The next hole, the 17th, is along the same angle, but this time the wind was coming from the left.

An improvement could easily be made by working out the angle (relative to true north) from tee to pin for each hole, and setting a random wind direction for the whole course, so that the wind will be consistent throughout a round.

Many will, other won't. Issue has been discussed at length. WGT  works that way by choice.

Honestly, I don't see how making the wind direction consistent relative to the course layout would be an improvement to what we have now. Either way, you have to play the hole based on a certain variable.

Swirling or gusting winds, though ... right at the top of my wish list.

It is set out as it is to stop people restarting until they get the wind that they like. It makes sense really.
