    What fairway?

I never had issues with my G10 (270) making any Fairways into high winds at SA.

33 mph wind. No such thing. 31 is the fastest wind velocity that we have, And even with 31 mph headwind full topspin will get you to the fairway with any of the top drivers. True if you use no spin or Backspin you would have trouble getting to the fairway. But common sense should tell you that you can't use backspin into that hard a headwind.

I played one of the best rounds I have ever played around SA and hit a 62. I had 30 mph winds at 11,12 and 1 o'clock on 2,4,5,9,10,12,14,16,17,18. Every other wind was directly across. The only helpful wind I had was on a 11, a straight at me 30 mph and then my putt did a complete horseshoe around the cup and came back at me.

Is this fair? Not one following wind on the 18 holes.

If this tournament had been played under the same conditions over all 3 rounds then fine, things even out. But when you have 2 rounds set at easy and a final round difficult, luck plays a part and being unlucky I miss out on a prize by 1 shot.

I don't know what everyone else had wind wise, maybe we had the same but if this was random.....

On another note fantastic play Dan, awesome performance.

If it's any consolation paul i had similar wind-set...1 hole straight down wind (15) but i bogeyed it lol majority of the rest were crosswinds, which i don't mind funny enough. just couldn't get going after slow start...my 1 complaint was an awful meter spike on the 14th 2nd shot which was a 3 wood which rolled literally 80 yards in front of me straight in2 heavy fescue..i'm starting to believe this is wgt and not my comp, but there you go!

I also had strong headwind on most holes, except the 2 par 3's where i got strong tailwind funnily enough.lol but it wasn't the wind that was the problem, it was my nerves knowing i was in with a chance for my first major prize on WGT.LOL  I pressed way to early on a 5 foot birdie putt on #1, had a 3 foot putt on #3 but was afraid of missing putt and rolling 10 feet past due to my position on slope and didn't hit putt hard enough for the break and missed anyway and even missed the 5 footer return.  If i wasn't nervous before i was fuming with myself now!, +1 and left with a 25 foot putt on #3!! Luckily for me that putt got sunk and it kicked off my round where i went on to score 61, (put me in 2nd at the time)  I even went through all the deviation members who i thought might beat my score just to see how they had done in previous rounds to see if i could sleep safe in the knowledge $100 was mine!!!

Nothing came close to the feeling of nerves and joy playing the back 9 knowing i was in with a shout, you wont get that feeling from unlimited play and for a little moment in time i felt how some one like Adam Scott was feeling yesterday, but without the 4 bogeys!  Well done Earnie!! And well done all who did well in WGT St.Andrews "Lytham in disguise" open
