Re: GI-SD balls - how much distance do they add?

  I'm master teir, using the R9 driver. Currently the balls I use give no distance increase, only spin and feel.

  If I were to switch to a GI-SD ball (or any other +2 distance ball) how much further would a normal drive of 280 yards go?

  I would say personally it's 10 yards for each plus, so a +2 should be around 20 yards better.  I think

  Whoa there, Mick. 20 yards? That might be a bit high. 3-5 yards is what I see. I never paid much attention to the driver change but with the irons I use that.  Spin and wind affect that, of course, but another way to look at the difference is like this; with the free ball the rated distance of a club includes the roll out at the end (assume flat, no wind.) With a distance ball you're going to actually land closer to the rated distance and roll past it. I have always used the 2D balls because it makes it easier to trust the numbers. JMO

  Well I DID say  'I think'  LOL

  I suppose I was looking at overall distance gain from everything.  Balls, clubs,  luck  ;-)

  Anyway I reckon to fly the driver 270ish with the R9 and the distance ball with little or no help from the wind.  Does that sound about right???

  Thanks guys.

  It sounds like they're not worth the x4 cost increase on the balls I currently use then lol

  Perhaps I'll wait until I'm winning $100 per month before going down that road.

  i c it as a couple % of the club in use. Sum where like yankeejim had it.  I stopped using the distance upgrade balls cause for me its not much more of an advantage than the spin when u got the club yrds allready.
