I ve jus played with a guy which level was L75 and is status "Amateur".

I didn't have the choice when I reached level L33 or  L34 to become "Pro"

Somebody can explain how it works ?

    Thanks !

Your average causes you to change tiers, not your level.

Levels have nothing to do with your tier (amateur, pro, etc), it only unlocks equipment. You move up in tier by playing a certain number of games at each rank and lowering your scoring average to a certain number. Players with high levels and low tiers (like a Level 75 Amateur) are likely to be sandbagging -- that is, deliberately avoiding moving up in order to play from the back tees. Don't play for credits with them.
