why cant we use other balls in our bag after loosing the last one in a package of 3? For instance--a nike ball expires,it was the last one in that package, so now--your hitting the house ball which doesnt compare. But, you still have other idebtical nike balls in your bag. Looks like we should be able to combine our bag balls--as long as there identicle.

They do combine if they are identical. The confusion occurs when someone like yourself thinks they're identical but upon closer inspection finds the balls are from a different level, they're a different model of the same brand or they are a different color of the same ball. Non-vapor and vapor balls are likewise viewed as different balls by the game.

Identical balls do combine, if they don't, there is a difference (if only a logo).

Other than that, the one ball rule applies here as well as on the PGA tour. The change to Starters is a WGT gimme - pros will be DQed when they have no more identical balls.

See "Tin Cup" (Kevin Costner) as an example. (nice golf movie BTW)

This isn't the pros; this is a game. There are differences between games and real life because instances that occur in real life can't happen in a game and vice versa. You wouldn't base your next real club purchase on meter speed, would you? Of course not.

Call the game as realistic as you like, but realistically, if I run out of Callaway i(s) balls on a real course, I'm going to pull out a Callaway i(z) ball, regardless of what level I think I am. We should have that same option here, not be forced to finish a round with starter balls. That's all OP is asking.

right and wrong, or wrong and right:

We are supposed to act as pros do in their tourney rounds, that's the game.

That's why we don't have handicap shots & that's why we play the Tour Pro Pars. Plus we accept (willingly or not) the one ball rule, WGT version.

    Take it or...

While I don't disagree with you, I still believe there are necessary differences between the game and real life. If not, we'd all be disqualified once we ran out of a particular ball during the course of a round. Since WGT allows us to continue play with starter balls, then surely they could also allow us to continue play with a ball of our choice, given that it's already in our inventory.

Perhaps it all comes down to what's easier to implement on a programming level - automatically select a replacement they know we all have, or stop game play, allow the user to edit their own equipment (but only the balls), and continue on. Sometimes the simpler solution is just that... simpler.

Agreed - either a gimme or eased programming.

WGT has to deal with quite a few issues of possible complication of their game, in particular all moments of choice for the players.

Unplayable ball comes into mind (impossible here), and the choice of where to drop (which is not given to us). Instead, "the game" drops for us, sometimes in quite unfavourable places, rough, weeds, behind trees...

you can use other balls when you learn how to spell LOSING

And you can return to write here when you learn to start writing with a capital letter and end with a .

And btw the "one ball" rule is not applied here on WGT, when you run out of your "own" balls you can always continue with the "starters". In my humble opinion is that a "two-ball" rule.

And at the end of the day is this still a virtual game with technical limitations.
