    Depending on the hole, sometimes you need distance, sometimes you need more control. There should be an option to choose what ball to use during play. At least at the start of each hole.

    it's against the rules of golf, so we do not have that. nor that I know of any plans to have it in the future.

    Yep, the rules of golf state that the same brand and model of golf ball be used for an entire round. See the next post ↓ ↓ ↓

    Pros generally only play a ball for 3 holes. Some rotate through the 3 balls in a sleeve playing one ball on every 3rd hole, like the 1st, 4th, 7th, 10th, 13th, and 16th holes

    One ball gets played on the 2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th, 14th, 17th holes, and the 3rd ball in the sleeve gets played on the 3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th, 15th, 18th holes.

    I did some further reasearch and discovered this at the USGA.org web site:

    One Ball Condition

    Q. What does the "One Ball Condition" mean?


    A. The Rules of Golf do not require a player to use the same brand and type of

    golf ball throughout the stipulated round. A player may use a different ball to

     start each hole. However, the Committee may adopt as a Condition of a

    Competition, the "One Ball Condition." When this condition is adopted, players

    are required to use the same brand and type of golf ball throughout the stipulated

     round. Please refer to Appendix 1; Part C; 1 (Specification of the Ball).

    Pros generally only play a ball for 3 holes. 

    "Pros" are also all under "staff" by a company and don't buy their own balls, gloves, clubs, etc.  Otherwise, they'd be a bit more judicious, too.
