It makes a difference, even with Starter clubs + Starter balls. Not too much as you said, but it does.
Now Dud plays good Cally balls, they should take noticeable spin.

Drop those callies for a while, they are way too good for the rest of your equipment. To improve your game, you might use the money spared to buy a pair of decent wedges, Ping or better. Use them with Starters or WGT balls - should compensate and pay off well.
