    bubbadork:

Gimmee putts should be the opponent's choice.  There are a number of holes where a two-foot putt is questionable.  It isn't the province of the game code to make that decision.

Gimmes ARE the opponent's choice where you have opponents: In single and AS match play, ?Skins?.

There aren't any opponents in strokeplay, don't wait for gimmes. Players in a group are competitors.

On the more serious side of the golf rules, did you ever see Tiger or any PGA professional grant a gimme to a competitor in their strokeplay, e.g. in the Playoffs?

This is the spirit of WGT golf, different to a casual muni golf round where gimmes are given and accepted against the rules, strictly speaking.

Edit: I even play self-gimmes if there's nothing at stake.

    alanti:

Totally disagree - I have seen many short putts missed and if in a stroke round the ball must be holed out. You have the option in alt and match play to concede a putt.

You too can become the proud recipient of a golden yips award!

no thanks i am happy to stick with my tin 1

Gimmies are allowed in match play, alt shot on here.

They should never be allowed in any stroke play event.

Great feedback and input fellow players

I think my original post has been mis-interpretated.

not taking anything away from the game, a putt that is 0.# " away from the hole is impossible to miss, in fact, players use there driver to sink them at times... ( wont see that in a REAL game)..

The suggestion was only raised to speed up the game offer WGT programmers an idea and not to hear about the "gone with the wind" rules and regs of realtime stroke rounds on a real golf course.

    The concept:

If the ball stops LESS then 12inches from the hole (e.g 0.6").. the game should give the player a Gimme shot

    Pros:

No loss of life off the ball

    Speed up game time

Reward for a great approach shot of drive..

    Anyway...it was an idea!!

    Cons:

Wont have other players say... NT or NR or "robbed".

    Regards,

    Sammy
