I have read that in practice mode you can adjust the settings, you click on stroke play, then change to practice, then adjust the settings, or at least that is what I've read.

Trouble is as soon as I select a course it goes straight to the course, if I don't select a course I cannot change the settings. Has this option been disabled? If so why? I would like to have a practice round where I can choose the green speeds so that I can calibrate my putter.

Any help resolving this issue would be most appreciated.

    Yes you can do this.

Try a different browser. Try Chrome if using FireFox.

    john-

    1st, you choose stroke play

    2nd, you choose what course

3rd, you choose Practice when you're at your course, along with front, back, or all 18 holes

4th, once you're in Practice mode, all the other settings are available: tees, pin locations (some courses), wind speed, green speed, and (drum roll please) whether you want 'even lies' or 'uneven lies'.

Note that not all courses have all options available.

I'm sorry, but this will spoil the game selection on the USGA courses, requiring to choose course and game again. Thus, in general it's more efficient to revert the sequence,

    1) course,

    2) game,

    ...

Of course you'll have to know which courses allow stroke play and which don't.

Hint: There's no game at all on Pebble Beach.

Another hint: Many courses allow for practice on 3 random holes - I like such quick games!
