    TarheelsRule:

I think Lee Trevino made the comment that a chip that doesn't get to the hole rarely goes in.

And, Tom Weiskopf's response was 'and those that run past never go in, either.'

I understand what you all are saying, and again am grateful.  I think I've got you guys thinking I'm overthinking this thing...ya think?

I just thought it odd to see a computer simulated game ding a shot in remarkably similar situations come up with such a discrepancy in distance.  Computer golf doesn't do that.  Real golf would dictate that a +/- 4yd range is amazingly accurate if consistently reproduced.

Another feather in the cap for WGT being most realistic.

I wanted the 150-158 range verified as 'acceptable' because at first I didn't think it could be.  I thought I must be missing something.  As it turns out, I'm just learning where to admit I hit a good shot and can shut the brain off a bit and play......as that's when I play best anyway.  If I play largely by feel, it feels I hit shots closer than when I stare at charts and try and get the exact yardage down.

This can be true. We don't play with the equipment you play with (exactly), nor were we in that condition at that time. You can be the only one to do that. Different equipment plays differently, ie: in real life, you should use multiple golf balls (at some point in time to fine what is best for you) each one does not act the same, that works here also. Using the same ball does not always create the same results either, every time. Is WGT thinking that far into the game,?. You can assume that they have ( bad strikes on the meter).

Another thing, look at the days or rounds of these players an how many they have played. Where info has been gathered. Then look at what time you have played. They have put in a many of a day playing and still having fun, but still getting info every day. Not trying to discourage you, but "it takes time". There is no quick fix, when you find it yourself. This is what I meant, by what I said.

I am going to in this with, I hope you are not thinking that we the other players are holding something from you, we are not! Not having what equipment you are using, we cannot tell you, that your results are accurate. I wish I would have ask this in the Forums like you just did when I was a Tour P or some where in that range, because you have got a "Hell of a lot" of good info. I hope you truly understand this. I hope you have an competitive personality, to find these answers. You will need that! And most of all I hope one day to play a game with you as the level you wish to be. Good Luck on your journey (of scratching and shaking your head, LOL), see you soon, Take Care.

getting good to great balls will help with the accuracy and consistant travel distance...  hitting the ding is a must...  and foward roll decreases loft and backspin increases loft so ajust accordingly to the wind speed...  sometimes trees restrict the winds(depending on the course) so higher lofted clubs will deviate greater....  BUT putting is the key...  Just think of all the putts that lip out during your game...  and if you dropped'em your score would be in the hig 50-s low 60's...  so forget the rest and practice PUTT'in...  and then practice putt'in..  and then after that practice..........putt'in  and then after that I would practice....... putt'in

good luck from the golf'in master on WGT...  MeetNutz..  the Nose Knows,  and I got my "Nose" on you!!!

I'm not taking it wrong at all.  And, anytime you want a game....I'm game.  I'm always looking for respectable people here that are willing to chat golf, ask and answer questions, and just generally have fun beating the little white guy around a course.

Meetnutz is right about putting, THE same thing I said much earlier in this thread. Paying close attention to whom is speaking. Experience is a key to info, but since we were talking originally about approach shots, it seemed to keep the conversation there. BS is all about WGT. Ok so here is whom you should be paying attention to: Yank, Tar, Glass, (my favorite name) Moonshiner; they all were trying to give you good ideas, and having experience, to give info. Piztaker my friend (from Moon Dogs), when he or she wants, knows also, "in the short grass", OK Pistaker I'll consider that as constructive, LOL (Congrates to GB, for a great Olympics; Piztaker).
