More of a gripe than a suggestion.
I've been trying to play Oakmont and am finding approach shots and putting terribly difficult.
I get the idea of giving us a month to try and qualify, but that means that we are going to have to play multiple rounds every day to enable us to get a feel of the course.
Some of us just don't have that time to put into it, so you may ask, what is the point of us entering the competition?
This is the first opportunity to play this course properly, obviously previous to this, it was only available as a CTTH competition, which is great if you make the green every time, it'll give you an idea of what it's about, but when you don't, it makes it a bit of a mystery.
I think the course should have been made available to play in stroke play with normal speed greens, allowing us to get the feel for the course, then unleash the tournament speed greens on us.
I think it puts a lot of players off from actually entering when they play the course and see that they have absolutely no chance to be able to at least compete.
