OMG!!! Either punch or flop that!  Partial swings, especially 40%, are ridiculously unpredictable!!

Seconded. Never try to judge distances using a club that can hit it 2x farther than the wanted distance.

As far as i'm aware, Flops are only possible with the SW and LW and the max distance is 24 yards.

In this situation i would've gone for a LW at just over 70% power... I get fairly consistant results with partial swings with the LW... only rolls 5-10 yards (what, only?  LW should stop once it's hit a surface :P).

Your best bet is to sacrifice a club, either the 3 wd or the hybrid and add another wedge

I have been a member for quite sometime now and am often frustrated with the lack of realism in the "realistic" game. Like...did u know that you can chip shot 33 yards with on to a flat green with a sandwedge built for 11 yards?? How realistic is that?

I would have hit the full LW at about 70% too. In fact, I have had nearly that same shot several times.

Are people saying that from 36yds off the green in real life they wouldn't hit a club with a 40% swing?  Which would be like taking a full swing but stopping at your waist then following though?  No, no golfer would do that.  They might hit a little punch, but not a full swing @ 40%.

This game is trying to be realistic people, but its a game, some things are not possible or lets say not predictable.  I have shots in my real game that no computer program can copy.  I have a throw wedge, kind of like a knuckled trapped punch shot.  Most people in real life from the OP's descripted shot, would probably opted for a different shot then a full swing.

    Excellent post "neil"!

I think it's hard for beginners here to understand that the swing meter has a given "power" that can't be "boosted" like someone might do with a club IRL. Sure... there's been many times IRL when we've used a club the way the OP has described, and neil has further expounded upon... but to play such shots requires swinging the club faster than normal - something that can't be accomplished here simply by changing swing styles (full, punch, etc..)... at least not effectively.

IRL, I have a 5iron shot that I use frequently around the greens... closed-down for a sorta "lofted putter" from a burned-out fringe or hard dirt lie where a chip with a wedge would be too risky... haven't got it to work consistently here in the game, however, and actually didn't think I would.

Public courses often necessitate the "invention" of shots like these... maybe that's why, at our local courses, I always hear the word "Mother...!" being screamed so much.  : ]
