Hey Folks ... While I understand why Jon might have initially thought about not giving out prizes to folks who win by forfeit ... he quickly saw the flaw and corrected it.

So --- Jon is still into this for the 50,000 credit first prize.    Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of many players we are reducing the donation list.    I've worked with Jon to reduce the prizes donated  either in 1/2 or by 1/3rd .   In order to get 30 sleeves and 12K credits the current donation list will look like this.    (as opposed to the list above).

As promised --- the 12 players who make the sweet 16 .. and do NOT advance to the final 4 will get 1,000 credits each.   The 3 layers who make the final 4 but do NOT win get 10 sleeves each.   The winner gets 50,000 credits ...

As anyone who may have run a large community tournament .. these are a pain in the butt to do.     So far I think the kids doing a nice job mediating it.   It's been pretty painless.

    Anyway hope this helps.

Sorry Dean .. I'll adjust ...Also don't need all 5 sleeves since we had plenty of people donating and more than enough to cover the prizes ... so we cut everyone back a bit.

Damn, I forgot about this.   Thought kicking off the New Year would be after the New Year.

Nobody's fault but my own.  :(

Oh well,  good luck to those left in it.

    Buggyyy:
Each round will have 2 weeks to complete their matches once the event starts.

One of the tough things about running a comp like this is being the hardass that enforces the rules. At the end of each 2 week period you need to take advantage of Challonge's feature to edit the field. You laid out the terms and just need to be that hardass in enforcing them.

I ran a successful CC comp similar to this with a slight variation-there was a backup round to play if the players couldn't actually hook up and each round was one week. At the end of the week I edited the field accordingly and if a guy advanced because his opponent flaked out, tough.

This is your tournament, Jon, and you are that hardass. Stick to your plan, you're pulling it off and Lou's doing a good job keeping it level.

    Lou,

Thanks for stepping in and facilitating this.  Just returning from a trip abroad and jumping into this sandstorm.

To your point, a match this size is unwieldy and being a community tourney organizer, I understand the frustrations on both sides. You don't see too many successful tourneys on WGT exceeding 32 players. So please forgive me if the following adds any headache.

Despite some effort, I was unable to get my match with fravel in before i left on holiday. Including playing a match against my next round opponent pb1711 in the event I might advance against fravel, which was in an effort to keep this tourney on pace. I was assigned a forfeit against fravel.  I accept and understandable based on my travels.  Fravel then informed me he withdrew (see below). I messaged Jon with this info and he said it had been reversed, but it still reflects fravel as in the next round on the Challonge bracket.

In short, I'm confused, lol. If I am still in, please let me know and I will arrange another match against pb1711 if he desires, or the next opponent. If not, then that's cool too, but please let me know. My sleeves of ball donation to the winners still applies!

Due to holidays  i  think me and my partner (JColson) will play, looks like he is away and i cant get hold of him now, will wait and see.

The official bracket i see you put me as a win against JColson,?? We  didn't play yet

    EDIT:

" Buggyyy: Due to complaints about players automatically being forfeited the win and not earning the win, I am decreasing the prize fund to only 25K credits. I've had to void several matches that could've changed the outcomes of many games. Please understand that this isn't what I intended to do, but players can't be given something they didn't deserve."

and for you to do this, decreasing the prize credits to 25K,please take my name off this tournament, ty

Because of your travels, I can let you two play your match and void the forfeit. I was unaware because no one let me know. Please continue to play your match. Post the outcome in the Scores & Results thread.
