How do you get the ball to stay on the green. I either end up in the sand with not enough club or past the green with too much club. Even tried to bail out right and the ball still goes off the green.

Your best bet is to roll to the pin from above it. Aim in reverse view and put your aimer at the top of the slope. The wind direction you see will be accurately pointed so account for it. Now when you're in the front view treat your aimer as the pin and play to the distance it shows. Ignore the actual distance to the hole because you will be trying to hit a specific spot on the green-the spot where you put the aimer.

What hopefully happens is you hit your spot and the shot starts to run out of gas just as it hits the top of that slope, in which case it will make tracks right for the hole! Hope this helps you get a little closer.

For what it's worth, that hole gives me fits too.  :-D

    Great post Jim.

Even with top of the line clubs, this hole creates more chaos than any hole I've seen at Kiawah. Hell, I've probably only birdied nine or ten times in my career.

Without a headwind, it's going to be pretty difficult to stop it.

I try to get to the fringe pin high right of the hole for and easy chip or putt. Quite happy with par on 5. But my personally dreaded hole that gives me the most fits is #10. With that pin placement, it is so bloody hard to stick it. Again, I walk away happy with par on 10. And speaking of pin placements, if WGT periodically moves a few pins at Bethpage, why can't we get a few different looks at Kiawah?

It requires time and money to do more pin placements.  Be patient!

Thanks b0geybuster, for the reminder. I was just sort of doing my own bit of venting. It is golf after all. But if you guys were to drag your feet a bit on the up/down/side hill lies feature, that'd be Ok by me. You know, like take your time with it. I'm always glad it's not in existence every time I stand over my approach shot from the right side of the fairway on #2 at Bethpage. That shot is hard enough as it is. Having to factor in an uphill lie?; yikes!

YankeeJim gave you good advice. From the bunker I place the aim triangle about 10 feet above the hole and hit a full Lob Wedge about 5-8 yards longer than the indicated yardage. The ball usually trickles down the slope close to the hole. Good luck making that putt though. LOL
