First thing's first.  You MUST get your speeds down pat.  Once you can consistently putt the ball to around 1ft short to 3ft past, you can work on your lines.  Once you have the distance, the amount of break will become a "feel" thing and will just sort of start coming to you.

It never hurts to play the same course over and over again for awhile.  I played Kiawah when I was brand new.  But, if you have the equipment for it, I would start on Bethpage because it's has the more subtle greens (outside of a couple real doozies).  But, once you feel you've improved quite a bit, Oakmont and Olympic will make you a better putter.

Just stay patient.  You will play enough rounds to remember about how much a specific putt moves.  And, don't play break on anything inside 5ft unless absolutely necessary.....just ram it in.  Being near automatic from inside 5ft will give you confidence to be aggressive from longer ranges.

You just have to take what the course gives you. I think I have figured out how to determine where to move the marker. It is very hard to put into words. In simple words you move the marker to where the dots first pop up when you go into reverse view. or you can leave the view in reverse and go down to the swing meter and click it, be careful not to move or you will take a swing.

You also need to see how many columns the hole is from the ball and how fast the dots are moving, in that case you need to adjust.

This has bagged some nice putts one day the next, you are off the width of the cup. It all depends on what adjustments were made to the greens.

So just take what it gives you and be happy, you'll never sink them all.

That is most in accurate and off by a mile, although I will admit I was hoping for the magic elixir such as this, not to be today.

Here's how I do it (but I'm not a great putter):

First decide your speed, over time I've learned I'm an aggressive putter so this will effect the break.

Second, go to reverse view (I only use reverse view) and move the arrow where you believe you need to hit it.

Third, still in reverse view, try to imagine the ball rolling to the hole starting from the ball and moving through each square until the hole. You'll find you'll make an amendment to where you first set it, remembering the speed you've decided on. Hard will break less than dead weight.

    Fourth, give it a whack.

Well your just abot Legend, so no hack....lol

Have you read the Faqs for the Putting Tips post.   Gives you a great way of how to work out the distance.

Get the distance right as others have said,  the roll of the green will come in later.

Every course has the same Roll on the greens. One course a different roll to the others. If you play the same course all the time then you can get a good idea what they do.  Oly is different story....lol

It also depends of what style Putter your are... miss the ding or ding putter....

or get rid of the putter your are using....  That might make a differance too.

There are many good articles on putting in the forum. Since we dont have a search engine now go to the FAQ section and click on putting tips. I will tell you that putting is the most frustrating part of this game---just stick with it.
