    alosso:

The "sandbaggers" will also be there in higher tiers... Thus we either are good enough to compete or we are not - I ain't.

    Several errors concerning green speeds:

    - regular tournaments are on tier-related speeds, i.e. in a Weekly or Monthly we should experience "our" green speed. Furtheron, you get double basic XPs in tournaments.

    - you better get some practice on other speeds, because

    1) Green speeds vary in tournaments,

    2) you will tier up to another speed eventually,

    3) once you play Multiplayer games, the speed will depend on the highest tier in the group - be prepared.

Thanks for that info, I wasn't aware of that.

I still won't be playing multiplayer games any time soon because there are incredibly few people on my time zone. I may now go for the odd regular tournament but looking at the winning scores there really isn't much point, my record 9 hole is 33 and my record 18 is about 67.

I will now stick to my putter as I've kept the calibration data from the slower greens and when I move up I'll calibrate for those too. I was looking eventually for a more balanced putter but I'm honestly happy with my Ghost Manta so I'll stick with it.

There should be a few ppl available from Australia...

IMHO tournaments are not mainly for winning but for experience - a standing in a "single" tournament may mean something even it it's 100+...

Stick to it as long as you can stand it!

    Hi jsweet.

Wish i posted a little earlier, but u seem to be on the right track.

I brought the k15 irons from tour pro, and they are fabulous clubs. Also, on the last free rental weekend, i pretty much hired everything in the pro shop for testing purposes. And because i was thinking to buy the top lvlg20 irons, but. After a LOT of testing, i have decided to stick with the k15's, there is no need at all to upgrade from these irons imo, until perhaps near legend or TL . I did recently buy the top g20 driver(lvl81), and the r11 3wood(low lvl) - along with the k15 hybrid and irons, i will not be changing my clubs again at all. it all fits together really well, and the k15's will never let u down, imo.

I tried pretty much the lot ,and i can only find 1 set of irons that compares to them(k15) - the low lvl r11's, which without dout are the best all round irons,(but they work best with a good ball). With that said, all the irons (but the RBZ's) are very much the same thing, its just what u get used to, or like more, such as slower meter etc. Basically saying, once u found a set u like, stick with them, u will not find any or very little difference from other irons.

Putter is the same really. Once u find 1 u can control well, stick with it . I still use the lvl19 spyder, i am very very consistant with it on all green types, so even after trying lots of others, i would just have to learn it all again if i buy a new 1.and i'm about 99% sure i will putt no better in the end.

Drivers have plenty to choise from, just need the biggest thing you can handle, heheh.

And as suggested before, and i think you find out, the ball is actually the little sweetener we are all looking for. After a huge amount of testing, the clubs have little differences in them all in all. The ball is what really makes that final difference. I have been using the WGT GI-S balls. Same as yourself, i don't like any more extra distance from the ball than 1 dot, i think the k15's are very accurate this way. and then the 2dots of spin - for more control, works very well for me. worth a try i might suggest jsweet.(about 85c)

Anyways - GL with your buying, and always remember to have fun

    thanks J1sty,

Agree with you  about the K15s.  Extremely happy with them.  They have and continue to do well for me.  So dingable and with the 4.5 dots of forgiveness, even when you miss the ding its rare that it goes way off the mark.  I rarely miss the fairways(prob over 90% with those clubs alone) and pretty close with GIR as well.  Only negative for me is the precision but not even close to being enough to complain about it or not recommend them.

After buying them i took avg from 72+ to where it is now in only about 20 rounds and did really well in some RGs.

I will say that now that i am at Master tier the driver is a tad short off the tee and why i will probably be upgrading to the G20 as well as the 3WD...but undecided on the irons for all the reasons you post.

The only thing I don't like the idea of is having a mishmash of different clubs with different meter speeds, so i may try and "learn" the G20s from L59 just so I can have consistency in the meter.

Vamos a Ver and having fun is always part of it

    Hi again.

On the subject of the r11 , faster swing meter thing. With the WGT ball i use, it slows the meter enough to be pretty accurate with it,(and not to bad on basic ball), i guess that it won't suit everyone mind. But check there stats, its all in the forgiveness. The r11 forgiveness is just as good, and maybe a little better considering, than the k15's, hitting the ding is not so important as such with the r11. Bit odd though, i seem to hit the ding a lot on them, or very close to, giving a lot of very good shots.

I was trying my best to not say anything about the g20 stuff, but i personally find, if you miss the ding, off the ball goes in the rough. If you think you can hit the ding 90%+ of the time, then you will maybe get on with them(no forgiveness to talk of). On a small side note, i really like the lvl81 g20 driver(280yds), because of the lack of forgiveness. It gives much more room for shot shaping off the tee, very useful at higher lvls and the change in playing conditions.

The issue with my different swing speeds, is not so bad at all. My Driver / 3 wood and wedges are all very similar in speed, and of course there is nothing can be done about the wedges, and i decided early that no matter what, i have to get good at the wedges swing speed. Its certainly paided off in the end. Then the irons and putter speeds are also similar, so only really 2 speeds to get used to. Which has taken me little more than a week or so to get used to, and its second nature to me now. I think you would find that mind, no matter which sets you end up using. But half the reason i posted my opinion, was i also wanted to find clubs that won't need good balls all the time to play with. As i also can't always afford the good balls all the time, i know i can play near as good with the basic ball, than with the good balls with my set-up, if i need to. All that said, i would agree that similar swing speeds does help your consistancy.

Again - all the best and have fun
