You pretty much nailed it yourself. The whole key to the hole setting up a reasonable birdie chance from below. The further right off the tee the better. I normally aim for the right edge of the fairway, but sometimes will hit it into the sand on purpose to create a better angle into the green. If you get a favorable wind and slower green speeds you can start thinking about landing it close to the pin w/ the proper spin to have it land as dead as possible for a tapin bird. Championship greens you're normally satisfied with a 20 footer straight up the hill.
