I have bought a 50" HDTV and just had Dish Network installed including a WiFi connection to my Broadband internet.  I'm told that I may be able to connect (stream?) my laptop to my TV and I think it would be great fun playing WGT that way.  My problem is I have no idea how tro accomplish this or what I would need to do it.  Surely there are some technically savvy players that might give me a hand?

    Hey Gerry!

I may be able to help here. Does your laptop have an HDMI port? I am confident that your 50'' tv does have this port, but you will need a port on your laptop as well as on your tv.

Simply go to your local electronics store and pick up any HDMI cable. Purchase the most inexpensive cable you can find. It is my opinion that there is zero difference between the more expensive cables. The cable is the same on both ends so plug one end to the tv, one to the laptop, and presto!

Note: You may need to do some minor configuring on your laptop and/or tv to get both devices to recognize each other.

Let me know here how it goes, or if you need more help :)

    Hate to disagree sir

Don't sound so dismayed, what are forums for if not to convey opinions, and varying ones at that :)

You need a connection between your laptop and your TV.

HDMI cable would be best, but you can get a HDMI to DVI convertor or whatever would suit the laptop.

Once connected you need to go into your video card settings and While the TC is on and input is selected to HDMI, you then enable Monitor 2, which is your TV.

I dont think it woulkd be much fun though, you woud have a huge swing meter and WGT site isnt rendered in HD, so ..  although it sounds cool, you are better off getting somehting like a 22" Monitor and play the game from that.

From my experience, the PC's HDMI output works without configuration.

It's but plug-in and select the TV input.

I do have a 42" flat screen hooked up to my PC..all works great..normal HDMI cable..and my TV remote has PC and COMP channel options on the menu..as well as AV!/AV2/AV25 etc..and is HD/digital also..it has fantastic picture quality..guess because it is specifically designed for such actions...is great fun..as far as the meter goes...surgical tape is a wonderful thing...easy to write on  as well as the obvious transparent bonus lol..I do not use it as a TV at all though...other than with my Netflix subscription...

You will enjoy it immensely ..I do ☺

Best way to get answers is do a search (google) on all your questions. Search your own name you might get a surprise. :)

Shrude's entry is correct. An HDMI cable (19 pin) from your laptop to the HDMI port on your flat screen will link the two devices with a flawless reception. A 1080i flat panel TV is basically a computer monitor which can be any size.

An HDMI cable costs roughly $50 USD, and will offer the best reception linked between any audio/video device.
