I am glad that tournaments like these are free because I wouldn't play them.  I have played a lot of online gaming and am pretty good at it, however, the scores that get posted on here are WAYYY too good for me.  I think that I will just keep in the background and play my own little games.  The tournament is an excellent setup though   Good going!!!

I too never get close, but as a legend (or three) pointed out, that isn't the best reason to play these games.

The reason I play these 'opens' is the experience points, you get double experience points, i.e. 400 for an 18 hole game as opposed to the regular 200.

    I agree, John!

An even better reason to play those free tourneys is the playing experience in itself. It's different to play a casual round "for nil" or a round in a single play tourney, once through and the result is fixed.

Even when the standing is >100, it's still an achievement, and sometimes you even get a minor trophy.

However, nobody can take the experience away!

Even the single play rounds are nice to try because you get to play the Tru Golf courses for free once in awhile.

I agree fully!   That is why I too continue to play them and the primary reason that I do it is for the fun of it.  I still also play the pay ones because of the same reasons that y'all said, for the fun and experience.  That, to me, is more important which is getting better at this game!

Its alos a great way to compete against your friends or CC members. Challenging them to beat your score will get you some XP too .

just started playing in tournys and i found the free ones are much easier than the paid ones, the free ones a score of 60-62 can win paid ones 52-55.

ive already won 2 free ones

I know what you mean, that's why I mostly play the free ones but I also occasionally play a paid one or two just because it will make me try harder since it cost me something to play.  Also, some of the things that happen like if I putt to a right break and I hit it perfectly, and I will miss my mark a foot or two to the left.  Different things like that but I also understand that with the complexities of a program like this, there will be things that do quite according to the way that it is set up.
