Fairly new player with putting problems, anyone know the difference of speed on greens. It seems that  we face six different standards, from slow to championship.

On a flat green how far would a ball, hit with the same power with the same wind speed, travel on each of these levels: slow, standard, fast, very fast, tournament  and championship.

I  find that  fast on one course is not the same as fast on another, is this so or is it my imagination. Thanks in advance for any guidance you can give.

    Slow - 5%

    Standard - 0%

    Fast + 10%

    Very Fast  + 15%

    Tournament (Light)  + 20%

    Tournament Legend  + 25%

    Championship   + 30%

Those are general rule of thumb, up or downhill reacts different on each speed

here is the one i use.....

Basically add one foot to your putting distance for every inch of up elevation, subtract one foot for every inch of down elevation. (Tournament and Championship Greens excepted), then apply the following conversion.

    slow greens.................divide by 0.9

    standard.......................none needed

     fast................................divide by 1.1

    very fast.........................divide by 1.2

    tournament...................divide by 1.3

    championship..............divide by 1.4

Exception for tournament and championship greens: Up elevation as noted above, but for down elevation. subtract the drop AFTER you divide. this has always worked well for me. a little practice and it should for you as well. hopefully :-)
