Played only my 3rd or 4th RG at Cabo front nine and shot a 31, par, birdie, birdie, eagle start and could have been a 27, every putt i hit that was for a birdie came up short and i mean agonisingly short, lets say atleast a roll from dropping.

Same with latest Kiawah RG, great putt putt reads for the correct lines, but the correct distances are destroying what could be exceptional rounds, most putts are finishing short, trolled the forums and read most of the putting tips, has anyone got a cast iron method, maybe something i've not tried!

Not trying to be facetious but just hit it harder.....envisage the hole a foot behind where it is, works for me..( sometimes )  :-)

Some clubs have 'holes' in them and you need to get round these 'holes'. Let me explain; I currently use the Ghost Manta Putter and I like it so I'm sticking with it. However on the 20ft increment if I'm aiming for 13, 14, 15, 16 or 17 feet, If I go to the 10ft (one backswing) movement and move up I'm ALWAYS short no matter how hard I hit it, if I go to the 20ft (two backswing) movement and move down I'm ALWAY long no matter how light I hit it.

The solution for me was simple (or at least it was once someone else suggested it), I just move up to the 40 foot increment and use that instead.

Perhaps you have a similar problem?

I believe there are errors built into the system and putting is affected in a couple of ways. I am a raw beginner, but I have had puts for birdie which had no elevation changes at all, and I hit the put perfectly and my distance was perfect, but I missed the put. Why? Well, my theory is that all clubs are imperfect, and that's what they mean by precision. If a putter is less than five dots of precision -which I believe all of them are, then there is a margin for error.

One question is, is the error random or does the game choose the times to add the error? I notice the error is not added nearly as much on puts for par as they are for birdie. I swear I have had totally flat greens miss when they said my stroke was "excellent" and the distance was perfect since my ball stopped just past the cup.

Probably, this is a good thing and adds to the challenge. Overcoming the error is possible with puts which would go by the hole at least one foot. That seems to be one secret to good putting. Puts which are exactly the correct distance will often curve off one way or the other.

I use a beginner's putter and have since I started playing. The accuracy of this putter is less that better putters (and I've had a lot of different ones). You can hit a "perfect" ding with it yet the ball can be several degrees off either left or right about 20% of the time, however, the distance is dead on. Your theory, Soggyblogger, is somewhat accurate......IMHO! My best advice is to stick with the putter you feel most comfortable using. Check my putting stats if you wish, they're not the greatest, but I think show my confidence in my primitive (and CHEAP) putter.

I am glad it isn't just me, sorry for your misery but it does love company. I thought I was losing my mind I have come up short and lipped out and burned more edges in the last week or so than I have in the previous 3 months.

if you have a putt with not much break you can actually ram it in the hole and take the break out completely, takes allot of bottle and u have to hit the center of the cup (ding) but been doin this a while and it works up to 20 feet, under 7 foot u can do it with putts that have more break.

and anything under 3 foot dont worry about break just smash it in, i dont mean 1 foot pass i mean smash it past

My biggest complaint with this game is inconsistencies on the putting green.  I have complained on a consistent basis but nothing is ever done.  Try this on your next individual round. set your meter at 15'  move the line of the put away from the hole.  Let us say the color in black make a putt  using the whole 15' meter.  Just for the sake of argument putt the ball back to its original point of origin.  Now make the same putt again using the 15'.  My results are usually one goes 17' the follow up goes 18' then another will go 11' some as low as 8'.  I ask you how is that possible.  Tech support does not address the problem.  Another that gets me is when the ball from off the green  goes directly over the pin with the pin distance of say 150 yds and it will show that you hit the 150 yds but it is still 10' or even 10 yds from the pin.  The math on all of this is absolutely mind bending to say the least.
