How many out there would like to have an unplayable lie feature for balls hitting the weeds and gorse?  Not every ball hitting the weeds or gorse should be a lost ball.  In real life we look for balls when playing that hit weeds and brush.  The program could be set up to allow for an unplayable ball with stroke penalty but not a lost ball when the ball rolls into weeds and brush. Balls that fly in would continue to be lost balls.

Might increase the price of the balls though.............The business has to make money!

Calling an unplayable lie is an option I would like to have. I don't mind to get the occasional lost ball, but have you ever found yourself in 60-70% or even 80-90% weeds? If i can call an unplayable lie I would be set back to the previous position with one penalty stroke. Just like IRL:

Not every ball that finds the weeds or gorse is a lost ball in this game, however I do thin you should have the option of calling a ball unplayable.

This would mean you have three options, .a drop within 2 clubs of the ball (usually will be no easier to play), play from the original spot or take the line between the ball and the hole, going back as far as you want - not closer to the hole (usually will be much worse lol) - all with a one stroke penalty.

It will not stop a lost ball so would not impact WGT. Options one and two could be easily implemented, option here would be much more difficult to program.

Best option - try and keep the ball on the short stuff!

Not in gorse. In real life no one with any common sense will even think about trying to get a ball out of a gorse bush. One British pro said when I hit a ball into the gorse I have to ask myself  what do I need more a $4 ball or my hand. I'll chose my hand every time". They claim the thorns on the gorse bushes will rip your hands to shreds if you reach into them.

LOL B2B - I have played several courses in Scotland - including St A's. I hit a ball into gorse - played a provisional and when we got to the location saw several balls lodged in the gorse from a distance. For all intents and purposes it may as well be at the bottom of the ocean - you would need rocks in your head or an armour suit to retrieve them.

    Me too!

Alas. did you ever notice that there are no playing options at all in this game? They will hardly ever change this, I'm afraid.

As for balls in gorse, IRL you may get some balls back with a tool like a ball retriever or a club. A further help is commemorated at Hopeman GC, Moray, Scotland in a statue near the clubhouse entrance. A member's late wee dog is said to have retrieved hundreds of balls from the extensive gorse linings of the course, them being matured and leaving some space on the ground.
