Hi all, I would like to see those who have used the G20 3W that have upgraded to the R11 3W (level 88) and the benefits they have found.

The stats say the R11 is more precise but less forgiving.Obviously the meter speed is faster but I do use the R11 Driver and Irons - but the variance in meter speed does not impact me too much (i find I hit the ding more frequently with the G20).

I was curious if the R11 landed more softly, for example, CCC # 2 where the G20 invariably lands close but just rolls and rolls way past.

Initially I was going to wait to level 95 but thats so far away but also do not want to waste credits if the benefit is negligible.

    Cheers

    Alan

    Hi Alan,

I am in the same situation as you are.

    Level 89 Legend.

I decided NOT to upgrade to the R11 3 Wood.  I have not tried it either.  I do not see any benefits as far as the stats go.

My thinking is go with the R11S when it becomes available.  It is a definate upgrade.

Save the credits and wait for the R11 S.

    Thanks,

    Capifonis

    Chris

I haven't used the G20 so can't compare but have had both versions of the R11 and find little difference between the regular and S version to be honest.  There certainly doesn't seem to be the same forgiveness difference that there is with the drivers.

    Capifonis:

This will save some credits but there are a hell of a lot of experience points between levels 90 and 95, it takes a long time to get there.

I have both the G20 & R11.  I prefer the str8 up meter of the R11.  But that's just a personal preference and my irons and wedges are str8 up meter too.

I do think shots land slightly softer with the R11.

The cost of a R11 3w was low enough that I could justify getting it knowing I'll replace it as soon as I'm allowed to get the R11s 3w.  (I'm holding out for the R11s driver, my driver is still a G20)

Cost wise agree with above..low enough to replace when time comes. Both the G20 and R11 are very fine clubs.....Having tried both I found myself invariable playing the R11, just seems to stick that bit better I think, and the meter does not seem to be an issue at all! Close run thing though!

Like you L94 is way off when the R11s will settle all argument's I guess!

I had L81 G20 Driver and Wood, immediately when I reached L88 upgraded to R11 Driver and Wood. My game improved, R11 have higher trajectory.

On Conga, Olympic, RSG, Bethpage - long par-3 ball is stopping better on green sometimes deadly without roll. G20 usually had few yards roll and ball end up in rough. Also on high winds distance is better because of trajectory and more opportunity for eagle when I need to put ball on green in 2.

I was able to put ball on green on Par-5 Olympic, KIA, Oakmont, RSG more often with R11. Cost of wood is not high so in my opinion is worth to have this club, especially when you have already R11 driver, always nice to have same meter speed.

Edit: Please look at replays I saved for you from Conga:

Thanks everyone. I suspected the trajestory of the R11 was higher, enabling a softer landing. With the Masters coming up, I am hoping a free rental weekend may be on offer, and will try it out.

Sadly level 95 is just too long to wait
