Playing from the Championship tees is extremely hard with starter clubs on any course. You can play Merion from your normal tees if you'd like to try without playing in the Open Qualifying Tournament. Follow the instructions below in the video from another thread. One of our members Scott made it. You have to do exactly as he did to get onto Merion.

It's only intended to be contested by the really top players on here. Even some Legends won't bother entering. Perhaps WGT should have lengthened the fairways a tad though.

I agree - the whole set up is a complete joke and trust me me i am playing as a master. I find most of the time a waste of time on WGT now!!

Right you are.  I play just to have fun.  I won't spend any to improve my game.  I like to play just to feel like I'm walking the courses.  When you can't reach the fairway with your best drive on 4 or 5 holes, well, that's not fun.

There are dozens of of other tournaments that you can play. This one is just for the best. You wouldn't want to see mediocre golfers cutting up the course on the real open

Please don't try to compare a real open to this game. In a real open, nobody would shoot 58, let alone 53.

Couldn't agree more. Loved seeing the set up at Merion, but not playable. Won't spend any more than I already have. Best I could do is 84. Of course, I really can't putt.
