Happened to me yesterday. The ball was stuck about a foot up the wall.  I hit it 20 yards sideways onto the fairway and ended up parring the hole so all was not lost.

Just move your aimer back in the other direction.

Some great advice here, if I may add just one more little detail. It has been extrapolated by Team Yancy that the bunkers may actually be inter-dimensional portals used by aliens for colonizing Earth. Back tracking, or sideways movement is highly recommended, as well as use of superior grade equipment. Swinging straight at the wall, on the other hand, may well either max out your shots, or, God forbid, activate the portal with who knows what consequences !

    Doc :)

There are TWO aiming triangles: the main player's view (with attached Yardage and elev. data), and a small version on the hole map on right side of play screen. Using the Player-view aiming point, you're limited  to maybe +/- 30 - 50 degrees movement left or right of default aim point in a forward direction. However you can also click and drag the hole map aim triangle to any desired angle from where the ball lies, including sideways or even backwards.

The second method is what you want for setting up an out from those pot bunkers. You have 2 goals: A, get out of bunker; B, get your out to a spot giving the best chance to get your next shot on the green and close. Simply getting out of the sand, but landing in deep fescue or weeds is a 'out of the frying pan and into the fire' situations. That's why even a backwards out can be your best option.
