Current Clubs:  WGT Starters All, only upgrade- 19 Taylor Made Spider Putter

    Current Budget: 2,628

    Avg:  76.2

Question:  Do I upgrade now?  I'd really like to upgrade and get a little more yardage and spin.  I also know that the key to scoring is putting (thus that was my only upgrade so far) and from what I read, wedges can really help.

Options (Sets): Ping Rapture 33+ set, wait for K15 38+

Or go with wedges, and maybe a driver and keep the starters?  I also think I need a little more distance off the tee box to reach the fairway on a few courses

Open to suggestions..  (I've also heard try to wait it out to G20 59+ set but that seems like a ways off...

Thank you all in advance for your input...   Hope to play competitive soon!!!

Ima try to give you some advice/suggestions

    1) If you want a complete set,  I'd recommend getting the R11 32+ Set (3495cr though). Has a great driver that is even enough on master tee's and great irons.

With those Irons you can skip the 59 g20 irons all together (as I did) and only upgrade at lvl 79 for the rocketbladez, until then, the R11's are more than enough!

    2)

Get a cheap driver as this Ping G10 lvl 34+ for 700 cr, will be more than enough for now.

Get rid of the hybrid as it really is useless and purchase the CG 16 56°, the CG16 60° and CG16 64° Wedges for a combined 1485 cr.

Makes a total of 2185 cr - leaves you 443 cr, I'd suggest getting some useful balls for that, for example the Tour GI-S balls 82 credits a sleeve or the Sirixon Z-Star balls for 180cr a sleeve (but more than double the durability, more distance, spin and feel)

Personally, I'd rather suggest option 2) as the driver, those wedges and balls would make your overall game far better (especially short game around the green with those wedges can make you save a lot of strokes.)

    Thanks TeacHa

At the moment, I'm leading towards the wedges.  Short game is where you really score and if I look long term, I think wedges are a good investment...  However, I'll have to look at the yardages because the starter PW is so short, I might be limited to two wedges for the time being...   I'll check out those R11's also... and probably make a decision by the weekend.  Fairways and greens to you my friend!  --- better yet, I wish you a lot of 1 putts!

I'd wait until you make Master if you can, then you'll know what clubs you need. Then start with wedges (3 of)

Personally I agree with Ms Fish. Any clubs you buy at your current level will not last any further than Master tier. TeachA has given options but unless you have credits to burn (or can accrue more quickly) I would wait and will save you in the long term. Leveling up does not take that long at your level.

Like TeachA said, you could opt for wedges, these will have a big impact on your game. The Cleveland and ATV wedges are very good and will last a long time. Again 3 wedges is a far better option than having the hybrid. But if you decided to get the 3 wedges, try to work out which set of clubs you would go for when you can afford them (the G20s can take you to legend) so you can work your way back from the PW to have evenly spaced wedges.

Thanks!  I'm pretty set on getting wedges based off the feedback.  I still want to consider something to add some distance off the tee to make the par 5's reachable but that might be able to wait...  gotta make smart investments.

Quick Update:  I did purchase cheap 10 credit WGT spin balls and they sure help.  Got my first round in the 60's!!! 68 with a couple lipped out putts (back to normal and shot 78 today lol)

Down to business... Leveled up fairly quickly to 36 - just played a CTTH and a round a day and averaging almost a level a day or so.  Try to complete about a survey a day and play a video or two in the morning when I drink coffee....   So yep I think I have the bug!!!

Second....  Thank you all for your feedback and I noticed after looked at some more of the forums that you guys are pretty consistent and generally try to help a lot of people out that are getting started ....  much appreciated!

I'm trying to hold off until I can get the G20's and some wedges.  I thought about starting with wedges first but that might help me tier up to quickly?!? (not sure thats a good thing)....

Golf is truly a game of patience and playing smart!

I wish you all lots of drained 1 putts and accepted surveys!!!
