I had to abandon a game because the 80-90% lie was in fact 100%. My 6 or 7 attempts out of it resulted in shots that went 0 yards with any wedge.

My suggestion is to offer a shot that at least has the possibility of getting out, or provide for an unplayable lie drop and stroke penalty.

I tried every direction I could to get out of there with the 10 shots allowed ( punch and full) and kept hitting what sounded like a tree only there's no tree there. Did manage to lose a ball in the process as one of the directions got you a lost ball.  Nice way to trash a RG.

Had the same thing happen in 90% stuff next to trap. Darn thing wouldnt move. Any real shot you can get a ball out unless plugged. Maybe next thing will be PLUGGED BALL go back to tee....

But mine was on short par 4 b9.

So what(if any) shot should be played in these circumstances? Surely there must be a way of playing it..........

IRL you can take a drop from an unplayable lie

A drop may not help as invariably you are dropping into the same problem (2 club lengths). A stroke and distance (ie original spot the ball was played) and keeping the point directly between the hole and the spot on which the ball landed, with no limit to how far behind that point the ball may be dropped are the other options available for an unplayable lie.

The last option would be too difficult and contentious to program, but a stroke and distance is an option to be allowed. I am not sure a 2 club length drop woukd be feasible to either program or whether the result would benefit the player (how could the program decide with is the best place to drop).

Not really. They do it with other hazards and from where I went in, 2 club lengths would have fit the bill. Just create the option to take the stroke and the drop line would be along the drive line. They could use that as the straight line.

If the game is going to have 70-80 lies it should have remedies for finding them that don't take up to 10 shots to figure out.

I agree that drawing the straight line would be easy, but I could imagine the complaints that people would have saying "it took the ball too far back" or "not far enough". And I don't think that it would be feasible to program the user option of dropping anywhere on that line.

But I agree that "drop" options should be implemented. Just look at the drop zones in hard sand say on #17 KIA for example. How to do  so is another headache for WGT unless it is a stroke and distance. But I am sure WGT would be willing to at least listen to viable alternatives.

Meh. I'm sure the incidence is small enough to not even bother with it. There's more pressing issues.

"Stay out of the 70-80. Next!"  LOL  ;-)

LOL best advice I have heard - putting it into practice is another matter! I agree other priorities are more urgent, but stroke and distance effectively  exists, all it needs is an option added. But then again, how many players would use it - its only a few weeds................7 shots later.perhaps I should have taken the stroke and distance.....
