I was told by the former owner of my club that there is an unwritten rule about fishing. I have tried to be careful about who I invite. They are either in a dead club or no cc at all.

I always assume a player is happy in their club or they wouldn't be there.

Anybody have any thoughts about this?

One invite to anyone in a club is fine...two...we'll if they say no, why do it again?

Actually, pertains to all players...so my suggestion would be send an invite to anyone you want...if they say no and decline, write it down, go through your list, and make sure you don't keep sending them an invite.

I've no issues getting one, but hate 2, 3,4 within a week from the same person...very annoying:)

I never send invites to people in other clubs, unless they contact me and specifically ask for an invite.

If they are already in a club, then assume they are satisfied. If you have an opening then publish it in the Country Club forum. If they want to change then so be it. I personally wait until an individual has an expressed interest in joining our club. I do publish potential memberships when other Ambassadors from our club move on. It is part of the social network and the abilities of all golfers here to find a place of contentment and satisfaction. Just my .02 worth..

Hit them long and straight!! CK

Another thought: if you have become friends with a particular player, play many rounds together and are simpatico, then be open as you play and see if there is interest in changing clubs. Sometimes being a club member does not mean happiness, but simply something that was done as a lark sometime in the past and is meaningless today. There are only a couple of members of the club that I beong to that are active (249 members today) but I am too lethargic to do anything about it, but in the right context would move on or start my own club. I'm guessing but think many would be like me.

I recently sent a player an invite when he was in another Club with a similar name. I had an idea that he accidentally joined the wrong one. I was right. He left that club, and joined mine. I did make it known that I wasn't trying to "fish" though. As far as that goes. If someone shows an interest, and wants to know more about my club, I will tell them, whether they are in a club or not. Ultimately it's their choice what club they would like to be a part of.
