I've recently gotten my first set of wedges, and in a few levels I'll add a set of irons to that as well. So I was hoping some of you can share your ideas on learning distances.

With the lack of a practice range, I'm assuming you just pick a course, and set it to practice? Do you need to hit all shots from the tee, or fairway? Do you have a specific course (ie: I'd imagine like St Andrews isn't very good for tracking distances) or hole?

Also, I'd like to try to chart distances with full spin. Since you'd usually be using this into a green, do I need to do it exclusively there, or can I simply do it in the fairway?

    Thanks!

    hi

you can hit any sot from anywhere, just keep in mind of the wind.distances. maybe best to find tourney with low winds or no winds (if it's currently running) and try there.

I would also try to keep clubs with same spin everything (for me, full backspin) and then once you learn the clubs, you can play with spin a bit:)

A good way to do this is on BPB #12. Go to http://www.wgt.com/courses/ choose BPB #12 and hit iron to the fairway. Then you can hit back and forth on a long flat fairway. You'll get 10 shots. Then you can start all over again with a different club.

Thanks, I had no idea you could play single holes like this.
