    kiminD:
I agree, wedges are a good way to go. Alternatively, there's also the 2 Level18 Pings at 110creds each.

Although I wouldn't recommend putters as an early choice for a club upgrade because the starter putter is surprisingly very, very reliable

    +1 to Pings

    +1 to putters.

My credo: Don't buy a putter for less than 500 credits!

Me thinks that a regular player will need to learn putting until such putter is available (level 35ish). OTOH, the Starter putter is the best club in that bag, only a tad weak from 40 feet out and more.

I think that putters are very much a personal choice, I must have bought 7or 8 expecting miraculous results, no chance, the putter  is only as good as the guy holding it, I always return to the spyder 400 credits, when you get used to the fact that it starts at 25 on the meter it is a very forgiving putter,I found the other putters with various increments confusing, many times I thought I was at one distance, only to find that it was either shorter or longer, on tourney greens putting is hard enough, and at 67 years old, less is more(increments that is) so my tip is rent before you buy, I know Legends who still use the starter putter, and lower tier players who feel they have to have the best, what suits one player does not suit all players.if you can afford to experiment great, but Alosso's credo of don't buy a putter for less than 500 credits is a bit all encompassing, and really only applies to him.just enjoy the game and accept you will make some and miss plenty whichever putter you choose.happy golfing to you all.

I agree to "personal choice" regarding the putters, also in real golf.

Still I have a reason to state this rule of thumb, "no putter below 500 credits".

My own experience is that my putting skills were feeble when the 400 crs Spider became available. I remember using a free rental weekend a month or two into my play and coming out without a selection: My skills (the guy holding it) did not allow for any advantage of the custom putters above the Starter. Four months later I repeated that feat with Ghost Spider, 2x Redwood, Nike and Daytona (must of been above lvl 72 then) only to select the latter - this selection applies to me but not the conditions of the rental.

To this date I'm convinced that the Spider is bettered by the Rossa, only for a player being used to certain scales, it may lead to preferrance of the former. Any player should consider the putters mentioned above instead of jumping on this "early bird".

To be honest, I deem those 400 crs being wasted.

I'm of the opinion that the Starter putter may be the best club in the free equipment for those who missed the "Beginner". There are certainly more important clubs to replace before attacking it - wedges, 3WD in the first place. Nevertheless, I doubt that any Legend would prefer it to a custom putter, it loses too much precision ("balance") in the long range, and there are some comfortable scales missing (15 yds, 90 yds). This was confirmed by quite a few fellow players in the "Uneven lies challenges".

Anyway, to each his own, ev1 has to find his way through the game and the site.

And, most important, Have fun! & Hit it straight!
