So I saw a post today about getting new balls (WGT GI2-S Balls) .. Thought I would try since they weren't too awfully costly. I went out to test them on St George front 9. The meter swings a bit slower.. that's kind of nice.
After that round I thought I would play St Andrew's front 9. After my first shot on hole #1 I was 66 yrds from the pin (it was on the rear left of the green. I hit the ball 60 yards with an 18MPH tailwind. I was about (guessing here) 30 yards from the stream. The ball went in and I lost it.
I thought.. ok.. bad shot.. So I try the course again.. This time the flag was on the front right of the green. I hit my first shot and was only 36 yrds from the pin Maybe 28 yards from the far side of the water). I wasn't about to lose another brand new ball.. so I hit the ball at 52 yards with a 14 MPH crosswind (I know... BIG overkill).. and slightly to the right of ding to counter the wind. This time the ball hit the near side of the stream bank and rolled in.
What's up with this? Are these magnetically attracted to water balls? Both should have easily cleared the water (especially the 2nd shot). For now I have gone back to the free balls (one of the other is left). I can't afford to buy balls just to have them arbitrarily go into the water when they want to. I typically play with starter balls and have done very well with them (in fact they have pretty much been all that I used.) Just venting.. but if anyone has an idea I would appreciate the input.
Thanks
