  Vs'd a gent the other night that went ripe at me when he noticed that I had noticed that I had decent clubs and balls. Does this kinda thing happen often?

  I got as far as you played a guy the other night and he got mad at you but I can't quite figure out the rest.

  Did he notice you had decent stuff and then go off on you? If that's the case, whomp him just to make him madder. Why does he even care what you have if he has his own game? :-D

  I think the OP encountered a comment like this - 'You're only winning because you have paid for better equipment, I would beat you if I had better clubs...wah! wah! wah!'

  Just guessin' though.

  Vs'd = past tense of vs.  I think he means "played against another guy"

  Of which, his opponent was pissed that the OP had better clubs than he did.  

   

  LOL  equipment is there to be purchased to be able to better your game.  I wouldn't worry about it too much. 

  And I wouldn't say that the op's equipment vs his tier/level are too far out there, after all he came back after a about 2 years away from the game.
