Very new at master level. While I don't expect to be competitive at this level, In would like to do a little better. I'm really having trouble with the tournament speed greens. Not a great putter to start with but can muddle through on very fast greens. Mainly figuring out the speed thus distance control. Was five under after 12 last week, wound up three over due to putting woes,

Had a *#*!*%# five putt. HELP!

Your regular green speed stays "very fast".

That said, here's some universal advice on faster green speeds:

Adapt to green speed, roll the ball slower, with less power.

Be aware what the contour does to a slower ball:

    - side breaks are more in effect,

    - uphill putts need more relative extra power because gravitation did not change, Be aggressive.

    - downhill putts need less relative power due to the same effect. Be defensive!

    Have fun during practice!

You need to either work to a percentage or work out a scale. The gap between each speed is pretty similar so it shouldn't be difficult to work out. Just remember that the faster the green, the slower the ball moves so the bigger the break. Also the faster the green the more effect slopes have.

Thanks for you help. Seems a little better, short ones under 5 ft. seem to be harder. Of course, figuring out the break, still a challenge.

Generally, I don't put my best advice on any part of the game in the main forums. I, and most of my CC's members are pretty forthcoming with solid advice in our CC forums. I'd suggest that you find a CC with plenty of Legends and TLs. I know that reading their advice and help got me up the tiers pretty quickly. It's now fun for me to pass along help to those who have come after.
