I see the flags by people's names, so how do I join so I can get the exclusive tournaments?
3 ways - Get to level 90, become a Legend or drop a ton of money. Pity there is no consistency though.
Then you may get an invite, but IMO, the exclusive tournaments etc are not enough - but credit to WGT for attempting to improve Nation Membership
