I wouldn't call it a waste, it might work for you. You can always trade them in later. Most of the dynamics of this game are in some ways very close to real golf but others are very different. A good example is the punch shot. While in concept the same it would be hard for the average player to run a shot 129 to to 169 yards flat and roll right to the teel. once you discover how you play you might not like a high trajectory but a ball that runs up. I use the wedges to stick it flat and hard on the greens here. I try to be within 3yds every time and so therefore carry a lot of irons. See how it works for you
