    MBaggese:

    I play my 100 yd wedge as a 101/102 club...80 as a 80-82 club...60 at 60...again, no elevation and to a flat green w/o slope.

I prefer in many cases to hit a bit less than a full shot...and add some top dot movement to get the yardage I want...eliminates them nasty wicked BS rolls on slanted greens.

It's always good to read some very good advice...Thx MB

I use the Cle's and the b/spin on them can be deadly...lol   Most of the time I use no spin at all, which is working pretty good. I should say too...  I use the Max golf balls.

Sometimes I might just move the dot, just under the normal position..  this will see it spin back and not too dramatic.

Question....   80yrds to pin....   19 straight Headwind...  I would select the 100yrd Cle Wedge, but struggling at how hard to hit it.    As I know, those wedges don't have much affect with wind....  Should I use any spin or use the 80 yrd Cle with top spin

Under "normal"...lol..circumstances, I'd punch my 100 wedge at 84 yards, and adjust a bit of spin based on the green...and most times, probably just leave it neutral.

The green dictates the spin needed...extreme example on a shot like that you may have would be the back 9 par 5 at Oak...if you punched it into a 19 headwind, hit the ding from 80 yards out, she'll land and roll to the fringe...so use a touch of spin, it'll land short and release and die near the hole.

Contrast that to the same wind on RSG f9 (about the 4th hole maybe?...the dogleg right-ish one, all the humps in the fairway, and traps where the dog leg starts...pretty short hole)...if you add and spin on a punch in there, you get a long putt back up at it, cause of the green slope.

All holes on all courses have the "gotcha" factors.

    But Roger, play da punch;)

Kiawah #3 is a good example of where you need TS on your wedge, very often you will have 60 yards to go, zero wind, neutral spin will bring it back 3 yards, cleves and callys.

thanks MB. Issue came up i used NIke ball (someone gifted long time ago) with 100 yard wedge for 95 yards. I reduced to 95 and hit ..it went 107+ out of green sligt 5kmp  side wind.

I normally play starter ball , so nike do not work for me. Especially pitching , putting it messed up my game. Starter ball ok but sometimes with side winds starter ball meter go crazy speed near ding. So plan on 2 dot ball , no spin with 2 dot feel. unfortunately there is no ball like that.

Cleve give all necessary spin. Only long iron shots u really need spin with  tail wind. So i am going to try different ball and settle on one which matches my distance caclulation.

There is a huge difference between the two balls....   Try the Srixon which is not bad...  or the Callaway distance balls.

Try the WGT Gi2D ball, 2 dots feel...might be something else in the WGT balls under 100cr a sleeve as well.

Sorry Alex...just realized you were talking about the Wedges.

Once in awhile somebody will ask a simple question in the Forum and get a reply from somebody which is priceless. This post is the perfect example.

I've been using this little tip since i read it....    just completed a round on the Beth

18th....   100yds to pin....  8 cross wind...  can't remember now...lol, but I think it was something like 20up in elevation...  normally I would select the PW(120yrd) and click short with BS and end up either nailing it or ending up with a tough putt for bird.

So I used the Cle wedge(100yrd)  slight top spin...  using the Max's... moved the dot up to the ..ahhh..... can't say where....lol

Anyway.....  replay of the shot... left me with an easy putt for bird.

We never stop learning with this game :)

    -Roger

Edit....  not sure if can see this if you watch the replay....    299ft to pin .... Standard greens...  Comp was Tourny Speed...  Wgt might have to fix that

I agree...can spend a day putting up sub 30's like I was playing tiddly winks, then spend a day trying to figure out why I'm cresting par..

This (above what I wrote) is why I'm so "anti" complaining..heck Roger, we can both toss a 26 or a 36 any given day, and not whine about the 36, knowing had we dinged them putts they'd have dropped, instead of thinking/saying "I didn't miss it by that much"...

Okay...off track here...but es, we learn daily playing, and learn from our mistakes:)

How true m8....   I gave up complaining ages ago...  Once you get angry at something... then your whole round or day is stuffed.

Edit....  actually what I'm really spewing bout that round .. I parred the 1st hole..ugh.  Now I'm getting off the track....lol
