Crowfl56:
Ok once again this game completely baffle's me. I just lvl'd to Tour Pro, handicap or whatever was 72.00. I played one 18 hole round, had a tough time putting (very fast) greens and shot an 80. So why did my average go all the way to 80?????????....
Another frustrating thing is the very fast green, wtf is the stemp meter setting you have it at 25 ???? Please get real, There aren't any greens in this world that fast, and your tournament speed greens are just silly fast, whats the deal ?
The distance to hit a ball is fairly easy on all greens, judging the bias is the real trick, the quicker the green, in general, the more the ball will veer on the slopes. There are numerous tips on how to judge the distance for your putts but this works for me, but remember the final divide number (0.85 - 1.5) varies as WGT can and do change green speeds without notice, heck sometimes even mid round.
For this example lets say we've got a 15ft putt with the hole 3inches above our position on a very fast green.
1. Read the distance. e.g. 15ft
2. Read the elevation. e.g. up 3ins
3. Add 1ft per inch if elevation is up, subtract 1ft per inch if elevation is down. e.g 15+3=18
4. Divide the distance at step 3 by one of the following factors:
Slow |
÷ 0.85 |
Standard |
0 |
Fast |
÷ 1.1 |
Very Fast |
÷ 1.2 |
Tournament (Tour Master) |
÷ 1.3 |
Tournament (Legend) |
÷ 1.45 |
Championship |
÷ 1.5 |
e.g. 18 ÷ 1.2 = 15
5. Add a 'get you into the hole' distance +1ft for uphill +0.5ft for downhill e.g. 15+1=16
6. Use putter pal, WGT Caddy or a piece of plastic stuck on the screen and hit the ball 16ft you should be very close if you've read the bias correctly
NOTE: This gets a lot more tricky on Tournament greens, as I now have two different speed factors, one for uphill (1.4) and a different one for downhill (1.45). Also with the faster greens there are a LOT more anomalies, some holes just play a LOT faster especially downhill and you have to note them down and adjust for each hole.
