Does anybody know the best way to play the tee shot on Bethpage Black 12th hole?

I'm playing from Legend tees and rarely seem to be able to get it over the corner bunker. If I play the other side of it I can never hold the fairway.

It's really starting to annoy me now.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jason.

With your gear, you should be clearing the bunker easily.

You using full backspin on the drive?  More carry...less roll.

Right over the bunker with FBS

hole should be birdied more than half the time

I'm not understanding why you can't easily clear that bunker with your SLDR driver. I just played it in the monthly 9 hole tourney and cleared it with my R11s 3 wood. Granted I just barely got over it and ended up in the deep rough just past the bunker. But if that  3 wood will carry it any of the top 4 or 5 drivers should clear it easily if you use the right spin, which is normally full b/s. Full B/S =more carry  and less roll but actually I don't see a whole lot of difference in the roll, except on some of the holes on St. Andrews and RSG.

Aim the drive from the middle fairway camera looking backwards. You'll see where the shortest point is. Definitely use bs for the carry.

    Thanks for the advice, guys.

Sometimes I clear it, sometimes I don't. I think sometimes I cut too much of the corner off.

I've actually being hitting with full top spin, thinking the ball would go further. I thought full backspin would pull it back. I know now.

    Thanks for all your help.

BS is way to go.  Don't know your driver but I would only be looking at that to keep the ball low when needed expecting LESS overall distance.

You need to go to Beth 10 low wind practice.  Get a nice 3 mph cross wind, and hit several tee shots. Count only dinged shots and note the spin used.  I find my R1 teamed with the L81 Nike goes farthest with only a dot of BS. Having played people with the SLDR I can say it's a fine driver, and knowing various spins / power settings more will help generally in your game.

Full ts will push the ball down earlier (and perhaps result in longer roll), not what you want to clear a hazard.

The fairway reverse camera shows that it's 256 yds to clear that bunker. I've never seen any problem with my G20 driver (284 yds), using no spin or back spin. I'm rather thinking to clear the corner behind it at 290 but this is difficult. Thus I aim along the left fairway fringe - see replay. The carry was 280 yds minimum with no spin, 4 mph from 8 o'clock, ding missed a tad late. Half and full ts would fly 270 yds, still enough for clearing.

Full bs carried 298 yds and stopped at 303. Wish I could do that with my Burner ;)
