In a sense there is a minor penalty ... loss of ball life and no XP for the game that is quit. Its not much I know but that's the way it goes.

I think there should be some kind of penalty. It is normal to start 3-4 games a night before someone doesn't leave after a bad shot
if they leave via the menu u get some points but not when u have to go back to the lobby

best thing to do is play with a few folks that u know wont quit on ya thats what i do and works out pretty well
Play match. Then if someone quits, you win.
The punishment is a horrid win/loss percentage.
