Once again thank you WGT for including the UL play into the weekly free Tourneys. I've never played Whistler in UL so it should be a supreme challenge. Can't wait to hear some of the post round banter and see the final placings. This thing is going to be very hard and a study in patience. GL to everybody that makes it to the 19th hole. Drinks will be on Corwyn....  ;)

Just a quick FYI. The Wk 51 free 18 hole single play flat lies Tourney is on Whistler as well. Anyone who doesn't play Whistler very much can at least get some idea of the course playing Whistler for free before they try the UL version.

GL to everyone and I'll see you on the 19th hole. ;)

Hey UL nuts!!!  I'm waiting at the 19th hole for the rest of you to arrive. Shot a decent 63 but was left knowing it could have been better. The front I played perfectly and ended up -5. I was able to avoid silly spots and made nothing but long putts and 2 very nice par saves. The back side with the 5 short par 4's in a row had me licking my chops as I made the turn. Birdied the first one but played way too aggressive on the second and was lucky to save bogie. I went for the pin but pulled the shot and ended up in the fringe left of the hole. It's super downhill from there and my putt ended up over 30 feet away. At least I had nothing but uphill from there. That put a scare in me and I didn't attack as I should have on the remaining short par 4's. Only managed 1 more birdie in the set and got pretty steamed after missing 2 putts shorter than 5 feet. Brought it home with 3 birdies and just missed my Eagle putt on 18 by a micron. Was fun as could be to play Whistler in UL and once again I thank WGT for setting these up. Starting it off on courses we don't play much was a very good idea. Playing a round completely with intuition instead of trying to repeat shots I've hit in the past was thrilling and scary. Felt like actually playing in a real Tournament under real pressure.

Have fun and hit 'em crooked Gang. I'm enjoying a nice glass of Cab while I wait on the rest of you. Corwyn, please play the round before my tab is due to be paid.

     ;)

Well I completely sucked it up and I am not horrible at UEL. Have done well in some RGs and other events. However, Whistler handed me my a55.

Kudos to you guys for your nice scores. TL leader with a 59, amazing!!

It is really cool thought to have the Full 18 even lies and uneven lies on the same course. Nice to be able to play the full course before hand and maybe even take some notes on some good places to put shots. I obviously didn't take any notes, but if you had WGT's cool little notebook or Kats it might be a really nice way to score well on the Uneven lies version of it

Not quite sure why I've ended up responsible for the drinks... but oh well! Happy to do what it takes to congratulate everyone finishing! (and somewhat surprised to see just 24 TL completions so far...)

This is such a fabulous challenge. Thank you WGT for offering these UEL tourneys, and for the first-ever chance to play Whistler in Unevens.

I had a mixed-bag for my round, missing out on birdie on #2 by a hair, and then getting into horrible trouble on #3. My dinged drive just took off straight left, and from a wicked sidehill lie in the rough, I decided not to try and risk going for the green (I was concerned about going OB, to be honest). A punch out and a less than stellar approach meant a sad bogey. When I barely managed to par the 4th, I thought the round was heading nowhere... but I came back with 6 birds in a row as it all began to click.

At that point, -6 after 10 with the 5 short par 4s to follow, I was sitting pretty, but one after another birdie chance went begging. I did convert at 14 and 15, but pulled the tee shot on 16 and missed the putt by a fraction, made a mess of my approach to 17, and then could only manage birdie into the wind on 18, the last bird taking me to a -9 total one behind our impressive Legend leader dakotarov. Just -3 for the last 8 (relatively easy) holes was never going to be quite enough...  (My card and stats here)

I'm looking forward to the next chance to tackle Whistler with unevens, hopefully with a bit more course knowledge and some putting experience there under my belt...

... and I'm also wondering if WGT will perhaps give us each course in rotation with this format. It has the makings of a great tour! I'd be happy to maintain a Tour Standings leaderboard if wanted.

Good luck to everyone still heading out ... !

Hey Corwyn fancy shooting Bro. I've been waiting for a run down since I saw your score go up. I know you and I pride ourselves on our UL course knowledge of the main 8 courses but this was a real challenge with no experience of UL play. I think you did fantastic. I had you pegged to lead the thing that's why I was trying to stick you with the bar tab BTW. ;)

P.S. Little surprised you didn't play the flatlands 18 single play first to get a read of the greens.

    Thanks Cerino!

Yes, it was just like a Christmas present: getting a new course in effect, and such a tough one!!! Just what we like :)

I certainly had a chance to lead the thing, but slipped up on those deceptively difficult short holes on the back. And I'm really impressed to see 60 sub-par scores (in Legend tier) on the leaderboard. That's fantastic! A real sign that unevens is gaining traction and that many players are making the effort to find its rewards. (Of course, I'm also curious to know how many WDs!!!)

I'm really hoping this might be a series that WGT is offering... every course in rotation: the freebie UEL Tour. Let's hope so!

    --------

BTW: I did play the Whistler flat lies round, but as so often seems to happen, didn't focus very well with it being flats (and not really being invested), so after a few lazy shots, decided to turn it into research... and started hitting pitch shots to different parts of the fairway to see where was flattest... and, on the greens, hitting to different distances around the radius of the cup to learn where I might aim for for the best putt. Several over became +20, +30 and then I realized I shouldn't hole out on the last or people might think I was messing with my average! So, I WD'd.
