I think i have the distance fixed and even the wind but as i do not play the real life game spin is confusing me.I always use full BS on every shot to the green, but have noticed  sometimes I'm quite close to the hold and it spins back levying me a much longer putt.Is there a simple full abt spin?.

    Thank You

Your best learning the shots with no spin , or very little , that way you can utilise the top and bottom spin a whole lot more ;-) ......

Plus, the lower the club, the more spin affects it. Pay attention to the direction of the wind. Wind in your face is going to exaggerate the reaction.

ATV's don't need much spin..  Start with no BS (ESP with wedges) and adjust from there. Spin is great but can hurt a round very fast!

Interesting question. YankeeJim and several other pretty good players say "don't hit with backspin" as it increases 'VEM deviation'.  OK?

I spent 3 sleeves mapping my L79 Bladez and use backspin a lot. If you look at my stats you will see that my average distance to the pin in 18 yds (includes everything from when I started this game). I am averaging more like 9 yds now (using backspin) and when I miss, it's usually because I miss the 'Ding".

The point here, is that, if you have mapped your clubs and hit pretty close to the 'ding' your clubs will perform pretty predictably. The important point is KNOW what your clubs can and will do.  There are a lot of holes where 'running the ball to the pin'  (i.e. no backspin) is not a good option as things like bunkers to prevent that.

Also it is important to realize that the courses & club performance change (by the day??). I use Bilko. 2 days ago I applied a minus 5 correction to Bilko's numbers and was shooting 5-6 under on 9 holes. Today I am applying -1 to -2 to get the same result. Same clubs, same ball, same WGT., BUT new day!

BTB when I mapped the irons, I mapped them with no-spin, full 'top-spin' and full 'bottom-spin' - for full power, pitch, chip, flop and punch.  (that's why it cost so many balls).

When you set full back spin your most lofted club, usually a wedge, will spin the most.

The ball you play also affects how much it can spin according to how many 'spin' dots it has.

As club loft gets steeper the ball will spin less. The Driver spins the ball the least of all the clubs because it has the least loft.

Back spin also changes the ball flight trajectory. With the more lofted clubs back spin reduces how far the ball will fly in the air before it lands and reduces how far the ball will roll-out.  With enough loft on the club the ball can 'back-up' from where it lands due to spin. With the less lofted clubs back spin may increase how far the ball will fly in the air before it lands and reduce how far the ball will roll-out.

Top spin also changes the ball flight trajectory. With the more lofted clubs top spin increases how far the ball will fly in the air before it lands and increases how far the ball will roll-out. With the less lofted clubs top spin decreases how far the ball will fly in the air before it lands and increases how far the ball will roll-out.

depending on the clubs u use the difference in distance between no spin (in the middle) and full backspin can be between 9-14 yards so a big difference.

Its the difference between good players and the best players
