It plays pretty much the same as the level 70 Versa with different meter distances at 10, 20, 50, 100, 150, 300.

By way of a change I got one, and a few beers helped in that decision.  In fairness I had rented it before, and much of me said I should know better changing from a perfectly good L70 Versa.

They are both real blade style putters, and so feel very similar in operation generally.

The meter speed is absolutely identical.

The meter increments already kindly stated.  Don't worry about this aspect at all though as very easy to settle into with the rest feeling so similar.

If you are a ding style putter I would say do not bother at all, much better to wait for the L96 Versa.  Loads of threads on the L96 with some saying they are fine missing the ding with it, but I never found it liked that to anywhere near the same extent as the L70 Versa or this putter.  The L96 Versa also has a faster meter.

OK you would get that half dot extra precision.  Compared to the L70 Versa that's nice top up insurance for longer straight putts.  Now straight in italics for a reason as the lack of balance, (power control with meter set deep) when not simply just firing straight, is it's Achilles heel.  If a longer putt has much break then setting the meter deep is pointless because it is impossible to weight the putt properly - impossible.  Take say a 25 feet, with meter set deep to say 150 feet,  the L94 Nike will show a distance displacement a good 18+inches wider than the L70 Versa.  This is totally cured by a short scale, and 100 feet should be fine in that 28 foot example mostly.

Inside of 12 feet the putter shines if you really work the putter by misses.  This is where the L96 Versa struggled in my opinion.  The L94 Versa allows missing to a larger extent much the same as the L70 Versa when you wish to do so.

In summary it's lack of balance can't be overlooked.  Longer putts that are not dead straight does mean longer travel back to ding with a short scale to get the desired weight.  In fairness the meter is slow but so is the L70 Versa and you get the shorter travel.  Closer in the Nike may feel a little tighter with that 1/2 dot extra insurance on the precision a nice to have.

Is it worth the upgrade? A sound business decision would be no IMO. It's a very good putter, but so is the L70 Versa.

For me there is so much room for a L94 Nike with that extra half dot balance and/or a L70 Versa half dot extra precision the whole is a gaping one.  If either of those ever cam on the market they would fly off the shelves.

^Not unless you mulligan after the 10th shot on the 18th hole, maxing out the shots (18x15), and doing that for say, 45 minutes. (lol) Tons of XP that way.

Nike has different distance scales as previously said. If you like the Scales on the Versa then I would stick with it.  Learning the new Distance scale might be a problem.

By the time you get to L96 and are putting pretty good...  you might not need the Versa Upgrade.

    Just saying

Buddy told me the Nike 94 was rubbish, I took his word for it.

The 96 is like the 70 but holds the line much better and longer, it misses the ding just fine as well.

I got me a stroke or 2 and cost me a stroke or 2, so net even presently over the 70, but the stroke or 2 I have lost will disappear, I find myself playing the break of the 70 and i still need to get used to it. But i see deadly in the future with it, tons of potential.

But to be perfectly honest, I do plan on rebuying the 70 and storing it, some days the faster meter is harder for me to control then others.

Someone told me before i bought the 96, "do you know those little breakers where the dots are just barely moving and you wonder with the 70 whether or not to move the aimer to adjust because of all the times that little break has broke outside the hole? You dont have to worry about that with the 96 and he was right.

But I bought it because my dings were missing the cabo flat par 3 putt, first time out of the gate, i missed that very same putt again on a ding, but have not since.

My advice would be wait for the 96, save your credits.
